Creating Fog Images

1. Install Windows XP SP3

2. Install all the drivers

3. Install Microsoft Updates. Remember to do Custom Updates

4. Find your school in the table below

4.1 Install the FOG Service

4.2 Enter the complete name of your FOG server:

chs-fog.district6.org

pes-fog.district6.org

sms-fog.district6.org

sve-fog.district6.org

cpe-fog.district6.org

jes-fog.district6.org

hms-fog.district6.org

4.3 Download the HostNameChange file for your school and extract its contents (HostNameChange.dll)

4.4 Copy the file HostNameChange.dll into C:\Program Files\FOG. Click on “Yes” to replace.

5. Install the correct version of Windows Support Tools:

Windows Support Tools for Windows XP
Windows Support Tools for Windows 2000

6. Install all the following software:

Acrobat Reader

Shockwave Player

Flash Player

Java

7. Join the computer to the domain for now, and contact me to move the computer to the correct location in Active Directory

8. Install the educational software that you need. Verify that the data locations work correctly. Create shortcuts for all users. Test everything thoroughly!

9. Call me so that I install Kaspersky Security on the computer

10. Launch the Kaspersky Security, run the updates and a full computer scan. Reboot if it prompts you to.

11. Defragment the hard drive

12. Remove the computer from the domain

13. Let me know when you’re done, and we’ll upload the image to the server.
