Warm-Up:

Agenda: 

  • Review this evaluation form (evals). Have it pulled up on your screen, and grab your magazine. Find a partner. Then follow these steps:
    • Take turns explaining your magazines to each other.
    • Take about 5-10 minutes to review your partner’s magazine.
    • Tell your partner how you would score him/ her based on the evaluation form.
    • Return your magazine to the stand.
    • You will present your magazine and let your parent/ guest use the evaluation sheet tonight. You can present any time between 5 and 8 pm in Sullivan’s side of the room. We look forward to seeing you there!
  • Complete week 4 Pen Pal News. Don’t worry if it looks like your previous responses have been deleted– we have your scores.

    • Retakes can be done Friday at lunch.  This is your last chance.

  • Turn in: Final Resume, Dream Trip Evaluation, International Travel, and Local Tourism.  Make 4 piles.
  • Make sure Siemer´s Internship Master List is correct – if not, it could affect your grade and attendance!

Agenda: 

  • Tourism Group Challenge
    • Get with your original tourism group of 4
    • Get your CIS Tourism Group Challenges handout from Siemer
    • Working with your group mates, you need to do the following:
      1. Share your 3 goals with your group mates
      2. Share your summary with your group mates
      3. Work with your group mates to come up with a solution to your tourism challenge which meets the needs of all four stakeholders in your group.
      4. Write up the solution with each person in your group contributing one of the pieces: an introduction to your problem, solution overview,  logistics and details, detail how your solution meets the needs of each stakeholder and conclusion.  Communicating with your group members as you write will be ESSENTIAL as your document needs to flow and make sense.  Combine each person’s piece into one document, make sure each person’s name is on their piece, print and give to Siemer.   • Search for national published magazine covers, especially travel magazines.  Good examples include Time and National Geographic.  Notice the artistic and text features that stand out which you may want to incorporate into your magazine cover.  Share these features with the people sitting next to you.
  • Turn in honors paperwork to Sullivan now.

  3. Work on your third magazine article. Complete the one of the following three that you have not already finished: Dream Trip eval, international travel, local tourism. Your third article is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday, unless you have an internship then it is due at the beginning of class Wednesday!

    • Use headphones to work at your own pace, we’ll play it on the big screen if you do not have headphones.
    • When complete, submit AS A JPG to P:\handins\BIS\CIS\Banners.  Siemer will delete it if it is not a .jpg.
    • Once you’ve submitted the tutorial based banner, please feel free to personalize yours to be more unique/original for your site. Remember to focus on a professional banner related to a passion.

Current Assignments:

  • Corrected features for the guide book (with rubric attached) are due Monday at the beginning of class…even if you didn’t have your rough draft Wednesday, you still need to turn in the corrected draft Monday.
