Last Day of School!

One of my favorite traditions happens on the last day of school. I write the kids’ names on their desks in shaving cream, and they get to play in the shaving cream, I mean clean their desks. 🙂 This year we added washing the yoga balls to the tradition, and they had a great time with that one, too.

Bullying Book Project

Taylor Martinez, our helper with Doo Wop, did her senior project with the help of our class. She wanted to work with the kids on an anti-bullying book. She talked about bullying experiences with them, then read “Cinderella” to them. Then she had them write stories about bullying (real or made up). They illustrated their stories, and she put them together in a book for the classroom. Here she is reading a story to the kids and helping them with their own stories.

Dialogue with an Alternate Tag

This week we worked on more dialogue sentences, but this time with an alternate tag. Instead of using “said”, we tried words like sighed, yelled, mumbled, cried and whimpered.  Enjoy!
