Summer!

Happy summer! I hope you are all having lots of fun, and aren’t bored yet. 🙂 I get to leave on my history trip in a little over a week, so if you left me your address and request, postcards will soon follow! :-)I will also post pictures here, but it may not be until we get back. Then after that, we are going to Yellowstone, so I can post pics of that as well.

Have a wonderful summer! If you want to share what you are up to this summer, please leave a message or a comment! I love to hear from you! 🙂

Similes

Last week we wrote similes, which are where you make a comparison between  two things using the words like or as. For example,  she was as mad as a wet hen would be a simile. Or he was as fast as a cheetah.

Friday Notes

I apologize, but I will not have normal Friday notes ready for this week. When I tried to print them, the network was not working. I am able to print a version of the note, in that I can print the missing work/grades, but I wasn’t able to do the behavior/work portion.  I’m so sorry, and I know the timing with OMSI next week is not ideal, but it was out of my control. Also, next week, with the 5th graders on the OMSI field trip Thursday and Friday, I won’t be able to have a normal Friday note then, either. We should be up and running again then following week! Thank you for your patience!

Sentences with a Series in the Subject

This week we worked on sentences that have a subject that is actually a series. Sound confusing? It means a sentence where three or more people or animals are performing the action. For example: Today, David, Anne and I attended an amazing history class.  Please click on the comments to see what the kids came up with. Thanks!

Fact Sentence

This week the kids worked on writing sentences that were facts. The important thing was to make sure that it was true, and we wanted to tell our source.
