Week of October 19 – 23

MONDAY – Great news….no quiz this week!!

We are beginning a research project today on Pre Columbian Cultures. Our learning target today was to be a more efficient and responsible searcher on the internet. We visited the Google pages linked below to generate discussion about what the internet is and how to search efficiently.

What is the Web?

Which link should I follow?

If you are interested, this Google lesson plan site has a plethora of tutorials an individual can go through at their own pace.

Students will have until Friday to complete the research. The number of notes cards required varies by individual. They will have four full class periods.

REMINDER TO STUDENTS AND PARENTS – ANY QUIZ, TEST, OR ASSIGNMENT CAN BE RETAKEN OR REDONE FOR A BETTER GRADE. A STUDENT JUST NEEDS TO SEE MR. D. AT AN APPROPRIATE TIME (NOT AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS) TO DISCUSS HOW THE GRADE CAN BE IMPROVED.

TUESDAY – We began our research today. If you do not have a Native American culture picked out yet, check out this map for Native Americans for some ideas. Also check out this National Geographic map.

Again, the number of note cards will vary by individual. We will have FOUR FULL CLASS PERIODS to complete the research and the notes. MOST students should be averaging 3 note cards per day.

WED/THURS – We continued our research today. Again, the number of note cards will vary by individual. We will have FOUR FULL CLASS PERIODS to complete the research and the notes. MOST students should be averaging 3 note cards per day. If a student does not have 6 note cards completed right now, he/she may want to think about getting some of it done tonight.

DON’T FORGET THE EXTRA CREDIT OFFER FOR ASKING (AND WRITING DOWN) ORIGINAL QUESTIONS THAT ARISE DURING YOUR RESEARCH.
