Week of January 12

MONDAY – we handed out a study guide and blank map for countries in Europe. The test will be the last week of January.

Students declared a topic for an expository report today. The remainder of the week in class will be focused on doing the research for the paper and mini lessons on formatting a formal academic paper. Two sources, one in print and the other digital, are required for this assignment. Students may need to visit the Jackson County Library in Central Point if his/her topic is not available in the Scenic Library.

The primary goal for the assignment is to write a paper that explains or informs, and it does NOT simply LIST FACTS about the topic.

and oh yeah…..GO DUCKS! (something from the prize drawer for the first student to report the score of the game)

TUESDAY – We spent time researching the topic for our expository papers. The goal should be to ABSORB as much information as you can – not simply take “shotgun notes.”

We also had some time to quiz ourselves on the Countries of Europe

For more practice you can print the Europe countries and map page. The test will be the last week of January.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY – We spent a majority of each period researching our topic for the expository paper we will write next week.

We also had some time to quiz ourselves on the Countries of Europe, or we sharpened our “geography sword” playing GeoGuessr.

Students also had an opportunity to attend a study session during lunch either day in order to qualify themselves for a retest on Friday.
