Beach Clean-up Trip 2013!

Eco Club is once again sponsoring a bus to take kids to Brookings for the Oregon Beach Clean-up day.  Join Oregonians from across the state to celebrate nearly three decades of twice-yearly beach cleanups along the entire Oregon coastline on Saturday, March 30th, 2013 from 10 AM to 1 PM. This effort benefits people and wildlife alike, supporting clean seas and healthy communities for present and future generations. You can join us in this effort by getting to the beach and checking in at one of the volunteer stations all along the Oregon coast.

Let’s cross our fingers for good weather! Thanks in advance to the 30 middle school students from Scenic for signing up for this fun community service activity.

This year’s Winter Student Art Show has come and gone. All three grade levels were asked to submit artwork, and a display was set up in the library. The show was up for two weeks and viewers were asked to vote for their favorite artist.
1st Place went to 8th grader Melora Williams for her manga drawings in ink. Her prize was a set of artist pens and a new sketch pad.
2nd Place was awarded to 8th grader Lance Garwood. His pencil drawings showed skill in shading. His prize was a drawing pencil set.
3rd Place was Marina Byrne with her manga portrait of a girl. She received a small drawing pad.
Thank you to all the students that submitted work. It takes courage to show your art to the masses, so I hope you’ll start working on something spectacular to submit for the Spring Art Show.

Rogue Valley Mall Student Art Show

Starting February 1st through the 14th student artwork from around our district will be displayed on the first level of the Rogue Valley Mall, next to Kohl’s. A reception for all the artists will be on Feb. 6th from 4pm – 6pm. Please come show your support. First, Second, and Third place ribbons will be awarded for each grade level. This is a great opportunity to see what our young artists are capable of creating. I was amazed at the current display of Phoenix and Talent artists. Their work will be on display until the 31st.
