The Central Point American Legion ‘A’ team capped a successful summer with a league championship. The Comets finished the summer 32-6 overall and 16-4 in Area 4 league play. They’ll be hosting the single A state tourney beginning on Wednesday, July 27th and concluding on Sunday, July 31st, at Anhorn Field.
Crater Baseball is currently forming its summer teams. The American Legion A and D2 teams are by staff invitation and typically based on player performance during the spring school season. Click in the “Summer Baseball” tab for more info.

The D2 team begins play with a 2:00 double-header at Mt. Shasta on Sunday, June 12th. The D2 team will hold a practice at 6:00 this Thursday, June 8th at 6:00 on the Anhorn JV field. A parent meeting will be held immediately afterwards at 7:30. For more info, contact Coach Lewis at 541 778 4927.
Crater’s season concluded with a 5 to 7 quarter-final loss to Churchill. It should be noted that despite being down 5 to 0 late in the game, the team battled back to tie it before succumbing in the 7th. To read the Mail Tribune account, click here.
The year-end baseball awards & dessert banquet is tentatively scheduled for after school on Monday, June 6th. Players should bring uniforms to turn-in at that time.
American Legion and D2 rosters are currently being formed. Players will be notified by June 6th. If you haven’t yet expressed interest in playing, please notify a coach.
Crater won its first round playoff game against Hillsboro and hosts a second round game today, Friday, May 27th, at 4:30 at Anhorn Field. Because this is an OSAA event, tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for students. To read about the first round win, visit the Mail Tribune’s page here.

I wide variety of gear, all with the Crater Baseball ‘C’ is available. The deadline to purchase is March 9th. Payments are made directly on the website. Note that this gear is not the required team gear players are expected to purchase from the school (which includes the official 2016 tee, team hats, and possibly a hitting jacket). Central Point School District 6 students in 7th and 8th grader are invited to tryout for a roster spot on Crater Baseball’s middle school baseball program. Participants play “Crater Baseball” against neighboring programs such as North Medford, South Medford, Eagle Point, and Ashland. The middle school program, while not a prerequisite, “feeds” Crater’s high school baseball program.
An informational meeting is scheduled for 6:30 on Thursday, February 11th, at the Scenic Middle School library. Tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, February 21st at Anhorn Field at 2:00. Players can sign-up at the tryouts. The number of 7th and 8th grade teams will be determined based upon the number of players demonstrating interest, the availability of coaches, and field space. The cost to participate is $300.

After climbing back in the championship hunt following a slow start, the 2015 Varsity season concluded with a first round playoff loss to Summit. The boys beat Central High School 1-0 in a play-in game before losing 1-4 at Summit of Bend. The end-of-season dessert banquet will be on Monday, June 8th at 5:30 at Anhorn. All players and their families are invited to attend. The raffle drawing for the butchered pig will be held at that time as well.
